Lori
Lewis’s
classical performances span from such varied genres as early music to
contemporary works. Selected solo performances include Haydn’s
Israel in
Egypt,
performed with Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra; Hannibal Lakumbe’s Dear
Mrs. Parks,
performed with Vocalessence in
Minneapolis,
Minnesota; Nils Lindberg's Christmas
Cantata, also with Vocalessence, and the world premiere of Francis
Grier’s The
Passion of Jesus of Nazareth, which was co-commissioned by Vocalessence
and the
BBC. Miss Lewis has performed with Skylark Opera in Oscar Straus’ The
Chocolate
Soldier, with the Minnesota Orchestra in Leonard Bernstein’s Candide,
with the
Walker
Art
Center as part of the
Festival Dancing on your Head, in which she was one of four singers in a
rare
performance of Steve Reich’s Music for 17 Musicians. She also performed
with
Springfield Regional Opera (
Springfield,
Missouri) in her debut
performance as Daphne in James Billings’ mini-opera, Meanwhile, Back at
Cinderella’s. Additionally, she has performed as soloist with the Oread
Consort
in
Lawrence,
Kansas, and with Kansas City Chorale.
In
the
non-classical world of music, Miss Lewis is the singer for an original
symphonic metal band, Aesma Daeva, based in
Minnesota. Internationally, she has
performed with the Estonian Philharmonic and is the soprano vocalist for
a
Swedish band, Therion. She has also recently performed with the Phil
Mattson
Singers, a six-voice jazz ensemble recently formed in
Minnesota.
Miss
Lewis is a
soprano soloist at Plymouth Congregational Church and teaches voice
lessons at
North
Central University, both located in
Minneapolis.
