Joyce Steeby,
soprano, received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the
University of
Kansas in December, 1995. While at KU, she had the
privilege of singing
in the Chamber Choir under the direction of Professor Simon Carrington.
After teaching public school choral music at the
secondary
level for many years, Joyce now enjoys working as staff accompanist,
adjunct
faculty, in the music department of
Kansas
City
Kansas
Community College. She also
serves as Program Coordinator and Private Voice Instructor for the Music
Scholars Program sponsored by the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra.
Honored to be invited to sing in the newly founded Simon
Carrington Chamber Singers, Joyce
also lends her voice to two other vocal ensembles, the University of
Missouri-Kansas
City Conservatory Collegium Vocale
under the direction of Dr. Ryan Board and the Trinity Choir
of Grace
and Holy Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Kansas City, Missouri, under the
direction of Canon John L. Schaefer, organist and choirmaster. She
has studied voice with Dr. Phyllis Brill
at the
University
of
Kansas, and German
Lieder with Madame Thilde Beuing, Professor Emerita, UMKC Conservatory
of
Music. |
